So, I just picked up an iPod Touch - actually, just bought it. My shoplifting days are behind me .

What the hell? I have been listening to Jack Johnson for a while on this thing, but now my girlfrend says, "Man, that stuff is assisted living music".

I think it's pretty good after a long stressfull day...just me?

I mean, i picked up a wireless laptop to keep up (and LOVE IT, by the way) - but I get hassled by my girlfriend about JJ? I am WAY ahead of the curve (technologically speaking) with my gear - what gives with Jack Johnson? Am I missing something?

Jack Johnson's music is not fogey music, it's just generally accepted as good music. My kid's two years old, and Jack Johnson is his favorite music. My younger cousins are into Jack Johnson. I'm into Jack Johnson. My mom's into Jack Johnson. And guess what? My grandma's into Jack Johnson.

That's kinda the crazy thing about the guy...you'd have to be a pretentious cockhole not to like his music. People who don't like Jack Johnson are the same people who turn their noses up at adorable puppies or say shit like "I don't like the beach." Y'know, assholes.

It is very mellow, I could see why the wife would suggest it's Assisted Living music. I like it tho.

I listen to my iPod all day at work. If I am stressed I listen to mellow music. Then I have my music that helps me focus and work faster too. I love my iPod Touch - so much better than older gens.

I'm 25, and Jack Johnson is one of my favorite artists. His music is perfect for relaxing, chillin' at the beach. Listening to his music makes me feel that I'm in the Keys or Hawaii, and not in NY where you can't drive for 5 minutes without violently honking at someone. That is, of course, unless you are listening to Jack Johnson.

Is she sortof a music snob who constantly seems to be changing her favorite new artist? If thats the case she could just be saying that hes old news when it comes to buzz bands.

Oh and for the itouch, I cant complain because a friend gave me mine for xmas but I wish it still had the camera and speakers like her iphone

That's one of his more mainstream songs, not his best work by far.

My favorite songs by him are Breakdown, Better Together, and his cover of Imagine. His new single If I Had Eyes is pretty damn good too - comes out in mid-Feb, I believe.

My favorite JJ song is "Flake".

I dig JackI got him in a playlist with Phish, Oar, Trey Anastasion and the Dead. Its great with a bottle of wine on the patio by the chiminea. Just chill take in the air and zone out. Nice RR with friends.

Well, I haven't heard it, but I'll say he must have some cajones - anyone who attempts to cover a song by Lennon (or any of the Beatles) must have them...ESPECIALLY covering Imagine. I can think of very few that did it successfully.

Jack Johnson is mood music. He's an OK performer, but I wouldn't exactly call him an artist. His music and lyrics are a little on the tepid side, which is not too say that he's bad. He's just not that good.

I like my mellow a little dark, so Jose Gonzalez is my latest guitarist/lyricist of choice. I do like Feist. I've enjoyed Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings lately.

Jack Johnson was a great boxer.
