Marvin Gaye's "What's Goin' On?"
Springsteen's "Born in the USA?"
CCR's "Fortunate Son?"
Not all the songs you listed there are what can be considered "protest songs". Not at least war protest songs.

Lennon's "Imagine" was more an ode to world socialism and atheism than it was a war protest song. His more famous protest song was "Give Peace a Chance".

Springsteen's "Born in the USA" is just an anti-American song written to denigrate a past war and past American policy. It was also a criticism of then current policy against the communist Soviet Union. Springsteen was always an ass. Besides hating his country, he hates cops too.

I can't say what is the best protest song. Maybe Darryl Worley's "Have You Forgotten" is the best song that protests the protesters.

Is THIS a protest song? [LOL]

Good song structure and decent lyrics that cause, at least, thought and reflection......Neither of which that steaming piece of shit Joel and his daughter's BFF and Starbucks buddy wrote.

It's just a shitty song. cool

I wouldn't call them "protest" songs exactly, but John Lennon's "Working Class Hero" and Matchbox Twenty's "How Far We've Come" are decent.

Animal's "We've Got To Get Out Of This Place" also.. Pearl Jam "Do The Evolution"

Pretty much anything by Rage Against The Machine, Neil Young, Rise Against, or Pennywise.

Now we're getting somewhere...the lyrics AT LEAST have to accurately describe the situation even if you don't agree with it...and the music HAS to be decent so that you can listen to it without having to stick a nail through your eardrum...A number of the songs you listed fall into that category--Ohio, What's Goin On, etc...

Dylan wrote a lot of good protest songs. I think. Well maybe, but its hard to say about the lyrics part. Oh, and the music... Actually I'm not sure anymore since I stopped snorting vodka. Never mind.

Oh God...I just listened to it. Fuck. I don't know whether to vomit or cry. Fuck. That was bad. Dare I say it? Yep. It was worse than that Fallujah song. That song makes me want to kill Iraqis just to save them from the chance that they'll ever have to hear that song. That might be the worst song ever written, about anything, ever. I've never questioned free speech before. Shit, I've never wanted to see the terrorists win, but I'd rather be blown up than listen to that bag of fecal maggots again.

No wonder Madman thinks it's a good song. It's pure dog shit. Hannity™ dog shit, Madman's favorite brand.

Fuck.

Madman, this is worse than the snuff film. Someone ban this motherfucker.

The mere fact that you could remember that song, let alone find it so fast, only goes to prove my point.

Eating fruitcake this year, Madman?

Hmmmmm, war protest songs. BYOB (Bring your own Bombs)by System of a down and War Pigs by Black Sabbath. The songs both protest two different wars and basically blames the politicians for sending us, troops to war (the poor). I have mixed feelings about the war, regardless I sure do like the songs. War Pigs lyrics .

BYOB
