I'm in no means trying to start an argument with you, but that link you posted is from the Catholic Relief Service. I can't find anything stating the Vatican itself is putting up some big coin for the cause.
The Vatican only had revenues of $209 million in 1997. A good chunk of Sunday donations never goes to the Vatican proper. It stays within the Diocese. I would argue that CRS is a part of the Catholic church. Catholic Relief Services is a part of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, which is a part of the church. The entire board of directors is made up of Bishops (and one Cardinal and one Monsignor). 90% of donations are given back out (that's pretty damn good for a charity).
The Catholic church advocating for a Palestinian state, and actually DOING something about it is two different things. Again, the Catholic church is all talk, and no action.
What would you propose that a country that is "neutral" do? What does Switzerland do?
No, the Catholic church doesn't go door to door, it (the church) prefers to get it's tentacles into goverment first.
You still have not answered with an example of this.
I'm not trying to defend the church in any way, and I know you aren't trying to argue about it. I'm just wondering where people get their ideas (again, the current "priest" problem notwithstanding.)
