Anyone in my area, or anyone familiar with it, I'm looking for sugestions on places to camp at lake Skiatook. I've been out there a ton but its only been to the parks. So I was wondering if anyone knew of any places besides the parks.

Give me a couple months and I will have a whole list for you. We are moving to tulsa in the next couple weeks.

One of my favorite camping areas in OK is the Witchita Wildlife Refuge in Lawton. The area is beautiful and the wildlife is amazing. I also like Roman Nose state park near Watonga. The trails for MTB/running are awesome. They stock the lake for trout in the winter and they have a golf course as well.

Ooops Edit to add. I will be looking for property up on lake Skiatook but don't know where to camp there. I have raced the Tulsa Triathlon a couple of times there but did not camp.

Also take a look to Arkansas. There are tons of places in the Ozarks and Washitas.

Let me ask around about Skiatook. I have never camped there personally, but I will be surprised if I don't know someone who hasn't.

If you don't mind a couple of hours of driving, Devil's Den in Arkansas has got some great camping sites. Everything from full RV to walk-in only sites.

Don't worry, eventually you will spot Biker Fox riding around Tulsa. That should help a bit toward missing your thong guy.

Trihead - when you get here we might actually have enough people to have a mini-meet in Tulsa! Although it will probably fit in someone's driveway.

I would be happy to have a mini meet. As long as you don't mind that I no longer drive an Xterra. My subaru does have AWD though smile

Yeah, um biker fox is an interesting guy. I have done my fair share of racing in the area but fortunately have yet to see the dude.

What kind of trails are at Delvil's Den as far as MTB or running?

Disney, OK has some great places for wheeling. I have never driven any of it myself, but have been down there when stuff is going on. There is everything from dusty trails to stuff that will tear your truck apart. Here are a couple of good links. The first one is off an FJ site, but it has got a lot of information in it: Linky

This site has pics of a little more serious wheelin' going on but give you a good idea of how much trouble you can get in if you want to. Hard Wheelin

If you Google Disney, OK and wheelin or 4x4, etc., you will find plenty of other info.

JMo - I am still checking around but you can find a good deal of info here: Skiatook Lake

Trihead - Not a whole lot of challenging trails at Devil's Den. Most are short, interpretive trails. There are a few 5-7 milers that you could run, but not sure about biking. The Butterfield trail is about 15 miles and will give you a workout. The wife and I were at Devil's Den a couple of weekends ago and had a great time. There are some great bike trails in the area, but I have never done them. Riding off curbs is about as extreme as I get on two wheels. Sorry.
