Who knew that those silly Tree Shaped Air freshners could reak havoc on our X's. Let this be a lesson/warning to all of you. I left one of those hanging off the 4x4 stick, when I moved it today I found that it had eaten into the plastic deep enough to show a dark gray color. It now looks like someone has sliced off a piece of the plastic . Not sure it could be fixed, but I wonder if just that trim section could be replaced, hmmm?

Actually, I've always used thoes tree things, and they worked ok, heck I had them in my 91'Jeep Cherokee BX (Before Xterra), and never had a problem. I would've hung it from the mirror, but I already had something there. Oh well, live and learn. GRRRR. ![[Huh?]](graemlins/huh.gif)

Don't let OFF (insect repellant) contact the plastic in your X. My son's OFFed leg took paint off the armrest on the passenger-side door. The Nissan place replaced it though.

They took care of everything, including the OFF damage. When I first told the service rep about it, she took the stance of "well, it was your fault, but we'll see what we can do". The part costs very little, like less than ten bucks. I think the low cost, along with the XOC sticker on the back of my vehicle, allowed them to replace the part. Anytime you take your X in for service, make sure the XOC sticker is on your vehicle. I think it helps the service people "do their best", because they know you might talk about them on the message board.

Think I'll give it a shot and see if the dealer would replace the piece, my eye keeps going to it now and it just bugs me. Should I post this on the Apperances forum as well, or would that just be to repetitious?

If you were to have read the packaging it says to keep it from coming into contact with ANY surface. ![[Finger]](graemlins/thefinger.gif)
