Imperial Sugar Explosion

Happened around 7 pm last night.. thankfully at this point no one lost their lives in the blaze. The explosion was so loud that apparently people within my area even heard it. [Freak]

Did anyone know that sugar was combustable??? [Huh?]

Well sugar does burn. Atomize it into dust in a silo and yeah, you get an explosion. Just like Grain silos can. Sucks for those people. Hope they all recover.

I wonder how the oil companies are going to use this to drive the price of fuel up some more?

Oil producers will look for ANY excuse.

Just today: Opec raises prices past $100 per barrel on news Heath Ledger shat himself during convulsions just prior to his death by overdose.

See what I mean?

Molten Sugar is basically Napalm if that stuff is flying around. Lots of horrific burns so the death toll is likely to go up in the next few weeks I'd imagine. Even tho survivability is allot better these days with severe burns, it's still a big killer.

I found out earlier that a good friend of mine's in-law was severely burned in the explosion.

I don't know much about burns, but I understand that he sustained 2nd and 3rd degree ones. Apparently he risked his life to save a coworkers and that's why he got burned as much as he did. Talk about valor.
