I'm not arguing anything about whether PETA is good or bad (I tend toward the bad, even if their "intentions" aren't supposed to be bad).
But you all do realize that PRNewswire isn't a real news thing? They are all paid news releases. You write it up, pay them, and they send it out to everyone.
Not to mention, that website Petakillsanimals.com uses what could be a VERY VERY VERY misleading figure (the 97%). If you look there, they state, "Not counting the pets PETA spayed and neutered." That's a bit dishonest. Possibly negligently dishonest. How many pets did PETA spay or neuter?
Are they using only PETA Virginia figures? Or PETA national?
Like I said, I'm not arguing for PETA. I just really dislike blatantly dishonest websites like that.
Edit to add...unless I'm reading it wrong, they are BEYOND dishonest. Check out the link they have to the PETA pdf.
For 2006, 12 adoptions they claim. They don't mention that 6,575 were reclaimed. Out of 9,637, only 2,981 were euthanized. HARDLY 97%.
For 2005, 145 adoptions are claimed. They don't mention that 7,795 were reclaimed. Out of 9,960, only 1,946 were euthanized.
BLATANTLY dishonest.
