Was there ever a credible independent candidate?

Ross Perot was ahead of both Clinton and Bush in the polls in 1992 for a couple of months. He then fucked up his own campaign.

You might have an independent candidate for president this year. In fact I am going to go out on a limb and say that it will happen.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg of New York most likely is going to run for president. He says he will not, but I would bet he is going to do it.

He has an ego the size of Manhattan. Maybe some of it is deserved because he has achieved much in the business world. He is extremely rich. No one knows for sure how much money he has, but it is somewhere between $6 billion and maybe $12 billion or more.

He doesn't need a single penny in campaign donations from anyone. He can completely self finance a campaign from his own pocket and kick in more money than the combined war chests of both the Republican and Democrat parties without feeling a thing in his wallet.

He's also very liberal. He hates guns. He hates the fact that you own guns. He hates the fact that you can walk into a store and buy a gun. He's a nanny state politician. He firmly believes in the power of government to tell you that you can't smoke and the power of government to tell you what you can and can't eat. He believes in the politics of global warming to expand government and give it more control over your life.

He would present a huge problem for the Democrats. Many voters who lean liberal or Democrat, but don't particularly like Hillary Clinton would vote for Michael Bloomberg.

Be on the lookout for him to announce his candidacy for president sometime in February after Super Tuesday.

Things could get interesting.
