Anyone ADDED Badging?

I know a lot of you guys are removing badging, but when done tastefully, I tend to like it. I noticed the Frontier V6 has Charcoal colored "V6" badges. I'm thinking of adding one of those to my V6 Xterra. Is there a 4x4 badge other than the decal on the Frontier? I am suprised Nissan in no way distinguishes a V6 from a 4cyl, nor a 2WD from a 4WD .

Keep an eye out for emblems from other makes/models. I know Jeep and Dodge make a '4x4' chrome type emblems that I've seen on thier vehicles. -Chris

oh I believe you....I've wheeled with only 2wd for years...that poor 83 civic really took a beating!!!! J/K...one of my first trucks was a 1985 F150 longbed 2WD. I ran 33's on it. First gear was a granny gear...man I wish I had that gearing in my X. Because of it's ground clearance, and long wheelbase, it used to be a great hillclimber..I miss that truck.

If the cost of the OEM decal is what deters you, you can take the dimensions and the design to a local sign shop to see how much a similar vinyl decal would cost.

I'm just not sure I want a decal that large on my Xterra. I'm looking for more of a charcoal colored metal emblem of some type.

The Jeep Cherokees have a rather small metal 4x4 emblem. You might look into getting your hands on one of those emblems.

There's your oxy moron . . . Sorry, had to do it . . . I like the fact that my X has 15K miles, is just over a year off the lot, and looks as good, if not better, than the day I brought it home. I have one or two little knicks in the paint from road debris, but it's pristine otherwise . . . I ain't putting aftermarket badges on, though . . . :p

I affixed a killer "Type R" sticker that I got off of a great guy on Ebay. He says my truck will perform better now, too. I think he's right.

It came in some Sentra SE-R propaganda from the dealer. Actually reads SE-R. Gonna slap it next to the '5 SPEED' I tore off my Z car. I also have a 'NISSAN-MATIC' for you slush boxes out there

I'm surprised no one has said, "Badging? We don't need no steenkin' badging!" Hehehe. I've thought about both adding the 4x4 on one end of the spectrum and on the other, removing most of it... So, taking the lazy route - I've left everything as-is. Heh.

Except for the 4x4 decals, I placed a few decals (US flag, XOC badge, AAA) on thin magnetic sheets (easily cut to fit) that I bought from the crafts section at Walmart. This way, if I tire of the badging or if I'd rather not have anything on my Xterra, I can easily take them off or rearrange them to my liking.

I asked the dealer what the "SE" would cost if I purchased it from parts ($74 if you are interested).
I was thinking to add the "SE" in front of the "XTERRA" on the back.
"SEXTERRA"

Waitaminute... Are you saying that the little "SE" emblem is $74?! Forgot to say earlier, that rather than badging, I do have two stickers on the rear hatch glass. One's a white Apple logo, the other a snow-filled and bluish "VT" oval. Kind of ironic, really - since these days I try to avoid VT for snowboarding... They think they're CO or something and have the cajones to charge $60/day for lift tickets. Stratton I believe, or something nearby charges $100! F*ckers.

Would this be a Nissan marketing idea to maintain an artificially high price to deter XE "wannabes" from labeling their rides as an SE? What distinguishes an SE from an XE on a used lot or at trade-in time? Is it in the VIN? Obviously a look under the hood is all it takes for those with the aftermarket Frontier Supercharged emblem. Does anyone really look at the back of an Xterra and think "oh cool, that one's an SE, it's top-of-the-line!!" or likewise do they see an Xterra with no labeling and think hmmmm, I wonder what he has under the hood? When I see Audi 1.8s without the badges and BMW 323s with an "M" on the back, isn't that what they call rice?

It's funny, really... In Europe, or Germany at least... The dudes with Porsche, BMW and Mercedes vehicles all REMOVE their badging! This way no one can tell what's under the hood, especially when they go blasting by you on the Autobahn.
It's really quite something when you're travelling at 100mph+ and a Porsche goes past you like you're standing still. Sickos! Heh.

"SEXTERRA"[/b] haha, I would think that you could make a cheap imitation for much less... Actually, if you made decals tha match the font exactly, then it would look better than if you used the real SE letters, seeing as how theyre a slightly different font from the model badge.

Brent I checked on the price of the Frontier V6 badging yesterday. They are $22.00 per "V6" emblem. Whew, pricey.
