Just a note on scrubbing your tires. Never use a steel brush or a SOS pad, always use a plastic brush or anything softer. The metal will remove the parafin coating, especially on white letters. This will cause the rubber to break down quicker and get that flakey look as it breaks down. As for cleaning chemicals, nothing beats soap, water and elbow grease. That way you don't have to worry about any chemicals on those expensive rims.
