I was wondering if the 4x4 decals (the ones available at xterraparts.com http://www.xterraparts.com/html/decals.html ) are able to be easily removed without damaging the paint? Being the same decals found on the Frontiers, these would seem to be harder to remove than ordinary decals...

Resist the temptation to put one on your X.Kinda like being an Xterra owner with an XOC decal? I actually bought a pair of the cheaper red/silver ones from Courtesy Nissan today (I was passing through Dallas and stopped by to get a locking gas cap for my '01), but I have resisted the temptation so far to put them on, and now I think I will send them back or sell them after mulling over the impulse purchase... I think you are thinking of someone who would put a 4x4 sticker on a 4x2. In Memphis as it was in Dallas, most of the Xterra's are 2wd and what is wrong with standing out? An a observation... Why is it that guy that is all about independence and freedom (of choice without ridicule)always the first to tell others how to do things?

Frequently, the roads north of Virginia, MN are closed in the winter to 4x4 vehicles only. The "4x4" sticker was all the trooper needed to wave me through the last time I was there... stupid, I know, but what was he supposed to do, lie down in the snow and inspect the differentials?

Well, I still want to put 4x4s on my X eventually, but I decided the ones that I got were rather large and a little gaudy for my taste ( ) So I've returned them to Courtesy Nissan... I guess that's why xterraparts was selling them for 8.50 and not 20.50 like the other decals that they sell. I do fancy the more expensive ones though (a little smaller and less gaudy) I might do a little shopping around for other decals this time... 40 bux for a pair seems a lil steep for decals... With a handful of Yellow X's in town, mine's the only one with 4x4 stickers. I like how it looks, and plus my friends (which are only a few anyways ) know it's my X if they're out and abouts and see me driving. Since none of the X owners here wave at me, I have resorted to waving at my friends. Sad, sad, sad... Anyways...put them on if you like em'...a few of us on here do :p

No, all the trooper would have to do is look at the front wheel hubs.

There is also www.fastsigns.com They can custom make just about anything you want them to. You pick the colors and sizes and material that they make it out of. Depending on the above stuff, it is probably around $3-20 each.

I'm gonna stop by some sign shops here in town and ask about 4x4 decals while I get vinyl sticker material to color the Nissan logo on my roof wind deflector (a la the 2000 X's). A couple of these sign places in the phone book also list vehicle graphics... If I don't see anything, I'll check out those websites as well as some of the sites I found by doing a Yahoo! search on 4x4 decals (i.e. www.edecals.com or vinzdecals.com).
