OK I'll tell my version of this story. You can see the bracket by looking in the wheel well (back, passenger side). Look for the truck frame, follow it forward, and where the frame curves down you'll see a bracket sticking straight up. It's bolted to the inside of the frame with a 3/8" bolt.
I got the squeak and tried to fix it before a hole wore through under the seat. I bent the bracket out a bit and the squeak stopped. However, it started again after several months. That time I pushed the bracket back in a small amount. That also stopped the squeak.
I could tell by feeling around the bracket that there was hardly any space above it, so I didn't feel secure with the "bend the bracket fix". This past weekend I removed the bracket, drilled a 3/8" hole just above the original one, then re-installed the bracket. This fix actually lowers the bracket by about 3/8", which will fix the problem once and for all.
While the bracket was off I took a look at the underside of the sheet metal near the seat. There was a very obvious "bracket sized" crease in the metal. I touched it up with paint to minimize the chance of rusting.
I strongly recommend this fix over the "bend the bracket", although it does take a lot more time and is a bit of a hassle.
