A couple people asked, why I would ask the question on XOC? I said because it represents and enormous cross section of people. Probably the broadest group I could hope to find.

I've been on the oxyen for a couple nights now, and feel a little better. The wife said that I've been much quieter the last two nights. I had to move the concentrator out of the bedroom, it was as noisy for my wife as my snoring.....both could nearly raise the dead. If this all helps both of us sleep, then it is worth it. I have the apnea, she has sleep deprivation due to my snoring.

I've got a couple people locally who have had the surgery with sucess, I guess a week+ of recovery might not be too bad either. I'll see if my issue is the sinus side, or the throat side. I am not a fan of surgery, but if it could solve the problem, I would not have to sleep with an octopus attached to my face.

Again, thanks for the information.
My dad(God rest his soul) used a partial mask for about 2 years before he passed away. He had to of been the LOUDEST snorer i ever heard and would constantly slowly drift off to sleep while sitting in teh same position for extended periods of time(church, driving, etc). After using the machine, he never snored anymore(even without the mask), had much more energy, rarely drifted off to sleep, and most importantly started losing weight(He was a big guy...6'2" ~300lbs). I would definitely say it's a good investment if you've been diagnosed.

I have a friend who was diagnosed, had the infernal machine and couldn't sleep with it...

had gastric bypass surgery, lost over 150 lbs and no longer has sleep apnea or a need for the aforementioned infernal machine smile

Fortunately, I sleep like a baby - so I got nothing personally to offer you - but I do wish you luck!

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea about 5 years ago. I tried the CPAP and decided that there is no way that I was going to wear that thing for the rest of my life. I opted for the surgery to reshape my nasal cavity, fix a deviated septum, remove my tonsils (yes I still had them @ 30 years old), and also remove my uvula (the dangly thing in the back of your throat). The recovery was about one week to return to work and about another three weeks before I noticed a difference in my sleeping (swelling to go down and all). I never quit breathing any more and I only snore when I have a cold. I guess the fix for the problem is what you can live with and what works best for you. Good luck. I hope this helps.
