Agreed. Carton did mention that he was "coming up to an intersection" when he noticed the log, and that "The cars in front of me are all going out of their way to avoid hitting this log", so I assumed that if he had time to acknowledge he had someone on his ass, an intersection coming up, and a log in the road that everyone in front of him was avoiding, that he must of had time to possibly stop to get that log out of the road.
