I'm looking for black wheels that stick out a little farther than stock for 32" BFG AT/KO's

I have a black x and think this would look pretty cool....

so far ive found some at www.jegs.com I wuld like to get 5 of the Cragar Black Steel Wheel "Soft 8" designs.

I only have a PML will this combo work well in 15x8 or 15x10

I dont flex the x a real lot mostly just dirt trail roads and sand

any pics or ideas sorry newb

Thanks

I loved the look of my AR rockcrawlers...similar to the Soft 8's...they are 15x7's with a 4.5" backspace...found a nice pair of Desert Runners however....the AR's are just sitting in my garage...want 'em?? wink

actually if you got lots of pics with them on, i'd seriously consider that, shipping would suck but Id cover all

Would they rub a lot or require a lot of trimming?

LMK

Thanks man

my xterra isnt black, but, i have similar steelies, they are 15x8, and 3.75 bs. i have a pml and 32x11.5r15 goodyear mt/r's. i had to take the plastic part that the front mudflaps attached to off completely, plus i cut and folded some sheet metal up there... all that just for the wheel to turn all the way in either direction with no compression. im sure i can put the plastic back on with major cutting of the plastic. in the back i had to put 1 1/2 inch bump stop extentions to keep the tire from tearing up the body on compression...minor compression.i will post pics in a few min. i have to upload them.

the X is dirty so pics arent the best but you get the idea.

someone will come by and tell you to just get a body lift soon. i personally am not a fan of the body lift.

Looks Good!

So is it because of the backspacing that you needed to do all the trimming, if I have something more like 4.25 then will I be fine? I too am not a fan of body lifts, so I'd like to avoid it if possible

Thanks a lot!

Why are you not a fan of body lifts? Have you ever had one, had one go wrong, etc...? Just wondering as a ton of people have been running them for a while now and no issues I'm aware of.

These are 15x8 3.75" BS Rock Crawler rims I'm running a PML and a 2"BL and those are 33s under there, btw, with a bit of trimming up front and no trimming or other modifications in the rear.

your x looks great too... Thanks

The only reason I dont like body lifts is because of the spacing in the shrock bumpers and tire carriers, and... to tell you the truth I really dont know, even x's with them I can never really say anything bad about they look good

maybe it's something I should consider as well

Thanks

Thanks for the compliment laugh

The Shrock bumper, tire carrier and sliders can all be purchased adjusted for a 2" BL.

The same goes for the Skid Row tire carrier.

The Calmini, TJM, and ARB bumpers are not adjustable for the 2"BL unless you do it yourself.

I know I sound like I'm pimpin' body lifts here, but I swear I'm not. Having said that, it's a CHEAP way to clear space for larger tires (in fact the only way, short of getting the fiberglass front fenders from SLR, to allow space for larger tires at full compression.)

there are peeps on here that do, you would swear that every time a body lift is purchaced, that they recieved a comission for it.

Here's the question that I have now. I think the body lift is a better option to clear tires for one major reason (yes, I run a BL now too): because I belive that installing bumpstop extensions is pointless in my opinion. That's sacrificing uptravel and thus sacrificing flex. Why? I would rather run with a gap in the front with my Shrock, rather than sacrifice performance off-road.

Not trying to slam ya, Manny, just have a different view on the matter.

Back on topic...

i dint say anything about clearing bigger tires. i have different than stock backspacing, which is a problem the original poster will run into with the rims he's gonna use.

if i wouldnt have told you about the extentions you probably would have never even known they were there.

i lost maybe an inch in up travel. thats not enough for anyone to notice, if it were 5 inches then i would say its a problem, but its not. had i not switched to the different backspaced wheels, for the upcomming sas, i would not have bothered with the bump stops, or the cutting or removing plastic. cost me about $10 in nuts and bolts, and some scrap metal.

you guys bl your truck to get maybe 3/4 inch bigger tire, and maybe 1/2 inch rear diff clearance at best (over 32's). that is not something im willing to do for such a very small amount of diff clearance. $200 for the lift, relocating front and rear bumper, redrill and re-inforce front frame horns to keep the bumpers from looking like ass. no thanx.

but hey, everyones entitled to they're opinion. i dont like bl, some do.

thing that bothers me about the "BL Pimps" out there is when no matter what the question is, the answer is body lift.

i want to get a bigger than stock tire, answer: body lift. (no matter what size tires you get)

but i dont wanna get 33's on my truck:
answer: so what get a bl anyway.

i dont like the way may truck looks, i was thinking about getting my windows tinted.
answer: no way dude get a body lift instead.

i want to pick my kids from soccer practice, how can i do that best? answer: body lift.

my girlfriend broke up with me, what should i do?
answer: body lift.

look im not hating on people with body lifts, if you like them, fine, no sweat off my nuts. i like the xterras that have them and the ones that dont, i have nothing against the owners for putting a body lift on "THEY'RE" xterra. its just not something that i dont particularly care for.

now that thats done... hopefully we CAN get back on topic and not turn this into a war over body lifts.

yea I did notice the most I see people with even who have body lifts are around 33's

one inch bigger than a tire I could supposedly put on my truck with no lift at all of any kind... doesnt make much sense to me, is one inch gonna make that big a difference?

Anyways back on topic anymore pics out there, preferably the ones from jegs would be nice, Thanks

Ok, one more thing I gotta say and I'll sit back and read, I swear laugh

I know there are lots of people that pimp the BLs to the point where it seems like they make money off them.

I went back and forth about getting a BL before I finally did.

SteelX you're absolutely right, SAS is the other way to clear bigger tires and still stuff 'em and I stand corrected. (Don't know how I missed that one as I have a HP D44 getting an ARB installed currently).

In all honesty, going to a 33 vs. my 31 didn't make that much of a difference, BUT the type of tire made all the difference in the world.

In the end, it's your X do what ya do laugh

ETA Just looked at the wheels you were lookin @ on Jeggs. They look remarkably like mine...not that you can see them very well in the pics above, here's another pair:

OK heres my exact plan...

The JEGS steel wheels
Finish: Black
Size: 15'' x 8''
Bolt Circle: 6 x 5.5''
Rear Spacing: 4''

theure like 36.99

and with those I'll have BFGoodrich AT/KO's
32x11.5R15

All on the x with a PML you think I'll have any problems?

Mine are 4.5" BS, I have a 2.5" lift, and at FULL turn(I have to hold it at full turn) and hitting a good dip I get just a hair of a rub.
