I have seen reference on here that the bull bars do more harm than good, could someone enlighten me on why?

Thanks.

You are mistaken in your wording... bull bar more refers to a winch bumper...shrock,ARB, TJM... which are made of sold steel and will kill a deer in it's tracks.
Everyone is talking about a BRUSH GUARD... they are flimsy hollow, basically sheet metal... they collapse on collision causing damage to the body, which without it, might have only been a dent.

I've got a brush guard with a bullbar main. It was explained to me in an early post of my X of the how and why they are "damage multipliers". Unfortunately my brush guard is a one piece construction so I can't remove the friggin' "wings" that cause the most damage. Darn... guess I'm gonna have to go with a full on Shrockworks bumper now [LOL] If I didn't have my KC lights set up on my brushguard already then I would take the whole thing off. Plus they also limit your entry and exit angles when you're climbing.

I've got a "damage mulitplyer" on my '00. What happens is if you are in a frontal collision, the top of the guard will bend into your hood and grill, causing more damage if it wasn't there. I like mine, and judging by the number of people locally that have them, a lot of people do. Just don't plan on going off-road, it will really restrict what you can do.

Now I got it, thanks for the info. Now that I think about it a little more, it is called a "Brush Guard" and not a "Tree and Rock Guard".
[LOL] Now I can start pricing out the Bull Bar.
