I was curious you guys opinions of this little gem:

i'm still not sure how long a hard drive will last under conditions other than highway driving. bouncing a hard drive around isn't good for its longevity.
the jury's still out on this one...

the jury's still out on this one... If it's anything like the Empeg, it caches quite a bit, so 99% of the time it's not reading from the HD. I have done a bit of offroading with mine running and never had a problem. Supposedly laptop drives are made to take quite a beating. Even so, offloading isn't too hard on the drive, probably having it on a laptop running while you're walking around shakes it more. ..jorge

Bobby I assumed it is. But I read the specs and it looks like it uses a standard EIDE. Now I know you can't even shake regular drives when they're reading/writing. Crap I'm old, I remember back in the day when you needed to "park" your HD before you moved your computer. .jorge
