Hello all

Here is something I would like to do.

I would like my overhead lights (meaning the lights on top of my truck) to flash in addition to the normal lights that flash, when the car is locked or unlocked, via the remote alarm keyfob.

My overhead lights are turned on by the stock fog-light switch. I use the stock fog light switch to turn on the relay which gives the overhead lights their power.

I am hoping that this should be an easy thing to do, maybe as easy as bridging one wire from the alarm circuit onto the turn on lead for the relay which turns on my lights.

Anyways, just curious if you guys had any input!

This is on a 2000 Xterra, with the factory alarm system.

And thank you in advance, I love XOC! smile

Bad idea, that'll burn out the bulbs very quickly. I've got my fog and driving lights connected to the parking lights, which flash with my Viper alarm, so if I don't turn them off, than the flash with the alarm as you were asking for. Repeated turning on and off wears out those bulbs very quickly.

Personally, I'd just go with a scanner like mine:

It flashes [5 patterns to choose from] when ever the alarm is active.

Heya!

When you say it would burn out the bulbs more quickly, do you mean that the quick flashing of it wuold be harmful for the bulbs, or that it's just more time they would spend lit-up, which will subtract from their overall life?

And thank you wink

The flashing is what burns them out. PIAA makes sure to point that out when you buy their products. I've accidently left my fog lights on all the time, so the often flash witht he alarm, and after a year, no problems, but those bulbs will be expensive to replace, so I'm not looking forward to it.
