I bought a cheap radio shack antenna and it whistles when going over 40mph.... any ideas?

I thought about spraying it with bedliner paint to give it a texture so it disrupts airflow and doesn't whistle, or buying an antenna that doesn't make noise.

Spraying it could mess up the preset SWR. A good SWR keeps the radio from getting fried over time.

If it's a magnet mount, move it so the antenna so it slants backward. This will help it cut through the wind.

Or....

Wrap a string around the antenna like your radio antenna. then tape over it or use heat shrink wrap.

You will need to reset your SWR.
