Mounting phone - what objects to stay away from?

I'm mounting an old 3w car phone soon in the X (very useful for the backwoods, nothing else works) and I'm just wondering what I need to steer clear of when mounting the transceiver. I've read here about the ECM and the Air Bag controller, but where are these mounted? I was thinking of putting the transceiver down behind the dash, on the floor.

That's probably a Pro-Fit mount. I looked at that, and I might end up getting one..but the phone I got off of eBay is coming with a mounting pole that screws onto the floor, so if it's tall enough I may just use that. What do I need to avoid when mounting the transmitter though?? I don't want to blow the computer up on the truck when I make my first call...

ECM is under the dash, on the floor, pretty much below and behind the radio. Airbag controller is under the center console.

I ended up using the Pro Fit LoBoy mount, it sticks on to the dash and supposedly doesn't leave a residue if you ever remove it. I'm putting the phone in this week.. I'll post pics of the install when I'm done.

Here's how I mounted it this is the transceiver, the angle there is horrible but it's mounted in the small space between the glove box and passenger door i ran the wire through one of the holes in the dash, the same one my sirius controller goes through too.. tucked the excess power cable up under the ECM (I figured what the hell, the Best Buy guy put my Sirius excess cable there.. I kept the transmission wire faaaar away though and finally, the finished product. retro at it's best. the antenna is mounted on the right back cargo area window.

Hope that cell phone dosn't become lodged in your passengers chest when the air bag deploys.
Nice set-up otherwise.

I thought about that very thing when I was putting the mounting bracket on, but I think it's low enough that it would, if anything, get pushed straight down.

What provider are you using? How good is your analogue service in the backwaters? I have Nextel right now and I'm in the process of installing a Hard-Install kit for it. It's great for Urban areas but once I get into the sticks, I get jack shit.

U.S. Cellular, the top provider here in Eastern NC. They have by far the most customers and towers virtually covering every square inch of this part of the state. The analogue out there in the swamp can go from perfect to near nothing just depending on how many trees are around you.. there's only been once place though where I was that I couldn't complete a call. It's top-notch everywhere else.. it sounds like a landline for me and whoever I'm talking with.
As for the wiring question you had in the other topic (I was going to mount one of these over a year ago and I started that topic... I was suprised to see it come back like that) I wired it into the switched 12v outlet on the dash. Black into the negative lead, and both positives (green and red) into the positive lead. There are two positives coming out of the phone, one is for always-on and one is for switched, but this is only needed if you want to be able to use the phone without car keys. I didn't, so I just connected them both to the switched outlet. I also had a yellow one that you connect to the horn and lights if you want to be notified outside of the car when the phone is ringing... that only works if you have it wired to work when the vehicle is off, and I had no use for it anyway, so I left it disconnected.
