i cannot seem to solve my engine wind problem. is there a way to isolate it or do i have to look at all the wiring in the truck? i checked and double, triple checked the grounding it it looks fine. oddly enough i didn't have the wind UNTIL i had my amp serviced a month back. i got it back from MTX, put it in and BAM i get engine wind when i hit the gas.

any troubleshooting tips?

Sounds like they may have done some shoddy work...

Check your wires and keep speaker leads away from power leads, never criss-cross them, etc. Make sure the ground is good (which it sounds like you did). You'll get induction noise.

Finally, invest in a filter to go in between the power wire for the amp and the battery. This should eliminate any noise picked up from there.

Double-check all your connections, use good quality materials, etc. and blah blah blah... smile

it may be some crappy RCA cables....ususally if you are picking up interference from your engine it has something to do with your connection...my bet would be ur RCA cables and unfortunatly the only way to solve that is to buy really expensive RCA cables we are talkin like 100 bux.....up to you tho..

Usually noise will enter the sound system thought one of two points, the power supply or the RCA's.

Seems some cars are prone to noise more then others, and Nissan truck are generally “quiet”.

It may be a good idea to see if you can try another amp (borough one), and hook it up. If the noise goes away it may be the MTX amp.

The easiest way to tell if it is come in on the power wires is to unplug the RCA's from the amp and put in a muting plug (a short RCA connector with both wires connected together), this will be an input of 0V to the amp. If the wine goes away then you now that the noise is entering on the RCA's and you do not need to do anything to the power wires. If entering on the RCA's you could try unplugging the ones that you have and routing another set straight from the deck to the amp (over seats and every thing) if the noise goes away you may just need to reroute the RCA's.

A lot also depends on if you have other stereo equipment in the vehicle.

I used to have the same problem. Make sure your power lines and your audio sends are on different sides of the truck. I have my power on the passenger side and my RCA on the driver side. Ground the amp as close to it as you can. The longer your ground wire is, the more interferance it can pick up. If this does not work, Monster makes RCA cords that have a third wire so you even ground you RCAs independently. Let me know if it works.

Are you talking about engine whine? I've never heard of engine wind. I would recommend a noise filter. Also, was the repaired amp installed by MTX when you got it back or did you re-install it? Most interference is caused by improper grounding.
