My '00 factory unit gave it up recently as well, though I wasn't getting any errors - it would just start skipping uncontrollably after about 10-15 minutes. I tried using canned air and also one of those cleaning discs, but to no avail. I went ahead and replaced it with a Sony F5700 (single-DIN).

As I was removing the original SE deck, I realized I never once played a cassette in it. Hehe. At least the new unit plays MP3's, so now my center console is MUCH less crowded.
