The firewall is the part of the engine bay that seperates the engine bay from the cabin. There are many wires running through grommits throught het firewall. Your best bet is to do a search and see what other people have used. I have seen people using a grommet on the passenger side behind the glove box.
The best and easiest spot in my opinion is the one you mentioned. A good tip is to take out the glovebox completely as it is not that hard to do and will really free up some room. Good luck.
