The question I have is about staying cool in a confined space. I read about once in a while on this site. Is overheating ever an issue, especilly when it comes time to crank up the power? Will my RF amps (160.2/subs and 300X/interiors) have any issues with under seat mounting?
Can I get some ideas how to secure the amps to the floor?
TIA (thanks in advance) Not my name. LOL

The question is, Will the amp fit under the seat. Forget about under the drivers side. There is a chance, depending on how high your amp is, it might fit under the passenger seat. If it does, you will have to remove the seat, and prob have to install shims to make the amp sit flat. You can use self tapping screws to mount it. Put a dab of GE clear caulking on the threads and then drive them in the floor. The caulking will help prevent rusting and water comming inside the cab.

I have no idea how it looks under either seat but was hoping to get one mounted under each one. So what your telling me is that under the drivers seat is a no go. Well, thats quite a conundrum. Where the hell am I going to put the other amp? I don't want to mount it to the box. I want the box to remain unattatched to all the amp wiring just in case I need the room in the cargo area I can just unplug the speaker wires. Any other options for mounting a second amp without having to do custom fab work to the cargo area side panels?

You could beef up the back seats and mount to the back of them. Might have to build some sort of cover to protect them when you put gear in the cargo area.

I have my amp mounted behind the rear seat. The amp is maybe 1.5 inches high. There was no need to beef up the rear seat because the amp is mounted on the steel frame under the carpet. When I put the rear seats down, the amp doesnt take much room at all. My Eclipse amp is pretty sturdy so I dont have a prob with putting light items on the top.

I fit my amp with no prob under the pass seat.
I see no heat problems, although heat can be a factor, with proper wiring and use of ac on hot days anyway, even use as a sub amp, there should be no thermal protection issues under the seat,IMO
(Iwould'nt think under the rear seat would not get very good ventilation and could lead to thermal problems, but thats just my opinion)

Great pictures. Thanks for all the help. The X is in the shop getting a Viper alarm system installed. I'll have to wait until next week to do the amps.

cool! you'll like that Viper,I put a Viper 350HV in my x and I put in an extra siren under the x by the spare tire and I put in 3 of the blue viper led's ,one above the radio, one in the front maplight assy in the headliner and one on the top of the inside tailgate door panel.
