I've got a 2000 XE 4x4 and I'm wondering what size the two tweeters are that are mounted in the front driver & passenger door.

I'm replacing the front 6.5's and the rear 6x9's but wondered if it's worth replacing the 2 front tweeters or not.

Has anyone replaced those yet with aftermarket speakers? If so, what size?

Definately replace the tweeters when you upgrade speakers. Plenty of people have done exactly that using whats called component parts from Boston, Polk, Infinity, etc... These speakers come as sets with the 6.5 and the tweeter and crossover included usually.

Tweeter is 1".

I went with the Boston Rally M620's. They're amazing ! If you do upgrade to a good speaker ,consider an amp.

Yeah, I agree, and should have mentioned that. Get an amp, even a small one to drive your new speakers. They will sound 10x better and last you longer.

I love my JL Audios. But go to a stereo shop, one that the salesman are not paid off commision, and listen to all the speakers. There is a huge difference betwen spaekers.

Other x's have installed Infinity, Sony Xplod, Polk Audio, JBL, BA, Kenwood, etc, and I haven't heard anone complain yet, so its just a matter of preference and money.

BTW, Its better to spend more money on the fronts than the rears since thats where you will hearing the vocals from.
