who makes the best car alarm/remote start combo? also does anyone know where to get them. I looked at etronics and found this one, http://www.etronics.com/product.asp?stk_code=preaps786t&store=&catid=297 is it a good one?

Directed Electronics is good (viper, clifford et al.) There are many many companys that make them. audiovox makes prestige which is ok. autopage is another.

Crime Stoppers go in nice I used to instal them a few years back. Your X doesn't have a transponder in the key, so you shouldn't need any other componets. I would NOT buy one from the local walmart or kmart. They work, but they are a pain. You have to hold the button till the light on the remote turns on. Realy cheap in my opinion and they usualy came back needing some thing or complaining.

Ive worked with auto security and starters for years. Astoflex makes the best remote start/alarm combo by far. Best quality, range, and easiest installation. Period.

I have the Autopage two way LCD pager installed. Model 855 FM. I works GREAT! Distance is either 1000 or 2000 feet i forget.

Go to their website and check it out.

No complaints here. It has many different features, i am sure like the rest of the other ones. I guess it would boil down to, what your needs are. I had a pro install it. I did not want to mess with the wiring.
