Which is it for a 2002 xterra? A lot of different sources say a lot of different things - does anyone know for sure what size the speakers are in the front doors? Also, anyone have any experience in replacing the tweeters in the pillars? How'd it go? Thanks!

6 1'2", 6 3/4", and the rare oversized 6 1/2" all fit in the front doors. I think that some older style Infinity Kappas (not as old as the green cones, the first generation silver cone 3 way models)came as 6 1/2" but with a collar to fit 6 3/4" openings. The tweeters are not that complicated. If you do replace them you can bypass the fatory cap if you have seperates and a crossover or keep it if you are just replacing the tweet and running it off of the factory deck. I kept the cap and put in Infinity Kappa tweeters and Infinity Kappa 6 3/4 two ways in the doors.

by the way, i did not notice that much of a difference in the tweeters, but the door speakers made a world of difference.

are you going to be running them off of the factory deck or aftermarket? they are a vast improvement over the stock speakers. good luck with the install, it is pretty straightforward.

I used oversized 6 1/2. I chose not to replace the tweeters as they seemed to be more trouble than they were worth for little results. My new 6 1/2 are 120W, a great improvement over the 20W or 40W factory speakers.

Eric...I guess I'll leave my tweeters alone too, but I'm wondering are you pushing your new speakers with an amp, a new head unit, or just the stock head unit?

I would reccomend always amping your speakers, even if you have a new headunit or whatever it may be. It'll sound 10x better amped.
