I have a 2001 XE with 6 speakers. I want to replace the door speakers with a component set. When I took off the door panel, I found no crossover. There are seperate wires going to the 6.5 and tweeter. Do I have to start from the radio to install my new set w/ crossover? I'd appreciate any help!

The crossover is built into the factory amp below the radio.(i.e 4pairs of wires go in, 6 pairs come out) I would say skip the aftermarket crossover and use the factory one. Just plug the woofer and tweeter into the factory wires at each location.

I didn't keep my factory stuff long enough to find out if the wires going to the woofer carry the high frequencies for a tweeter. If they do, you could use that set to run the aftermarket crossover...

Eclypse, you have helped me out before for which I greatly appreciate but I'm confused after reading this post. I installed brand new Polk Audio db 5 1/2 components in the front and mounted the crossovers behind the armrests in an open space I found. I also took the factory radio out and put in my own JVC 6160. Does this mean taht when I took out the factory radio, I took out the factory crossovers with it or am I running 2 crossovers per speaker right now?
