The lights on these buttons in the '02 SE S/C are just three little plastic thingees that are impossible to see if they're lit when being hit with direct sunlight. Are there any mods that can be made to make these things easier to see in bright sunlight?

Thanks,
DM

Not really. Isn't the fact that they're either almost flush with the panel or sticking out enough to tell you if they're pressed or not anyway?

i suppose so. i'd just rather be able to tell the state by taking a quick glance. over time i think i'll be able to detect the depressed/raised state of the button with ease. besides this one quirk (which is probably more on my part), i love my new X.

I hate having to look at them to see if they're depressed too so I just get used to feeling them with my fingers tips.

I just try to notice if cold air is coming out of the vents laugh

On a more serious note, have you ever noticed that it sounds different when it's not on re-circ than when it is?

yeah, and it was that way with my old altima as well.

on a side note, if the fan selector is set to "0" (off), and the recirc is off as well (button not lit), should there still be air coming through the vents? i've noticed that with those two conditions, I still have air coming through the vents when i'm at moderate to high speeds. i'm guessing this is from the air intakes that are still open, but the fan blower is shut down, so the air comes in only as the vehicle moves. this wasn't the case in my altima, and i was wondering if this was a fluke with mine, or if that is a normal "feature" on all X's.

thanks.

Yea, I wondered the same thing when I got my x, but ppl here quickly let me know that it's completely normal...So, I've learned to deal with it.

If you don't want that to happen, turn the dial to "0" and hit the re-circ button. Then NO air should come through.

yeah i figured that out about 1 hour into owning my new X. i don't care really, just didn't know if it was a fluke with mine or a regular thing.

Of course it does, you're hearing the air being drawn into the system under the dash in addition to the normal sound of it coming out of the vents.

If the buttons really bug you that bad then get a set off of a '00 model. You should be able to get them from a dealer. The only thing is since the buttons are the same shape just different lighting I don't know if Nissan would have stopped making the old ones and only make the new style now. If thats the case then you should be able to find some off of one in a junkyard. The ones from the Frontiers are the same too.
