I'm in the middle of changing out all of the Clarion/Rockford crap out of my 03 and I have a few questions. And yes I searched and searched.

1) Does anybody know which wires on the two amp connections I need to splice together in order to bypass the factory amp?

2)There is also one additional plug that I don't remember on my 2K Xterra. There are 2 wires hooked to it and they are yellow/red and yellow black. If you were to look at the back of the Rockfor deck, they are plugged into the lower left corner of the deck. Are they possibly the steering wheel audio controls?

3)Which 2 wires out of the 4 available from the stock subwoofer/3-4 inch small speaker do I use for a 6x9 speaker.
The four wires available are blk/wht, blue, blu/yel and green.

Some help if anybody is able to offer is much appreciated. Wise ass cracks need not respond.
Thanks!!!

I hate to tell you this, but the BEST thing you can do, is if you are replacing all the speakers, and adding new amps, then RUN ALL NEW WIRES. Every time I splice into factory OEM wiring, there is a big chance of induced noise. Also, I have even seen (not necessarily the case here) same year cars with different color wiring schemes. To say which wire is which may mislead you. Get out your multimeter and test the wires to see if they are power, ground, signal or speaker wires. Then use a battery to "pop" each pair of speaker wires to test which speaker is which.

This can all get very confusing, and again, I strongly recommend running new wires, directly from your new amps to your new speakers. It is more work, but defintely worth it if anything should ever go wrong.

Thanks for the info as far as testing. I actually started doing that last night. I installed this same system in my 2000X with no difficulties. The 03 with the RF System has an extra bowl full of spaghetti looking wires that have been a little intimidating. I did run new wires for the back speakers but a half hour or so of fighting to fish wires through to the door speakers using a hanger with no success I decided to cheat and use existing wiring. Can't seem to get a hanger through the grommet. If I were to actually make it through, I'm not sure I would be able to grab hold of the wiring with anything. Space is very tight. Any suggestions or known tricks to actually do this would also be appreciated.

Chaney, what are you planning to do with all that "Clarion/Rockford crap". After you're done with the install of your new system you should have all the knowledge and experience necessary to reinstall the Rockford system into my Xterra. Right?

Seriously though, good luck with the install and let me know if you need an extra hand.

IMO the RF system doesn't sound any better than the regular Xterra stereo. If you want a decent system, I will gladly help you pick out what you need and then help you install it. Do your shopping at Crutchfield.com and save some money like I should have done. I can even point you in the direction of the items on my wish list so you can order all at once laugh

If I don't see you Haole Makahiki Hou to you and Kukana.

Let's see the wish list. I may be in the market to replace my RF system.
