I just want to see how you guys feel about buying a used 2001 Xterra SE 4x4 with 67,000 for $13,000. The price is great but the miles are a little high. I know Nissans are very reliable, do you think it would be worth it or will I have a lot of problems with that many miles?

I can only speak from my experience, my X has 73K on it and has never been in the shop except for recalls. I plan on driving my X for at least 150K and hopefully 200K. Also Consumer Reports gives the 2001 X excellent reliability rating , based on its subscriber reliability experience.

I put 109,000 on the first no problems and this one now has over 70,000. Ask for a car fax report.

If you consider that the average driver drives around 12-15k miles a year, the milage in 4 years is 48k-60k. You are not that far off from the 15k per year number. If you like it, and it has been well maintained, then go for it. Don't let that little extra milage discourage you. Hell, I almost consider the first 50k miles just breaking in for the 3.0/3.3L Nissan V6s!

I have over 150,000 on my 2000, and has only been in for recalls and a window motor. I change my fluids religiously, and I can't see any signs of trouble.

No, 67,000 isn't bad at all, however I don't know about your area, but I just bought my X about a month ago. It's an 02 XE with all the options, 4x4 with 40,000 and i paid 14,000 for it. I think that you could find a better price, but that all depends on where you live though.

No way...we all sell ours when they hit 66K! I'm planning on a quarter million miles minimum, that way it'll be paid for before its done.

I have a 2000 v6 4x2 with over 120k on it. Have had several small problems with window motors, a/c hoses, rattles etc, but never drivetrain problems at all. Planning on keeping it and driving the wheels off of it.

Nissan engines typically outlast the transmissions with proper maintenance. I've seen many pathfinders with 3.0 engines (same design as the 3.3 in an X) go 250k+ and still run very strong. Auto trannies are another story.....start looking for replacements any time past 100k, depending on usage. You can prolong their lives with regular fluid flushes.
67k isn't too many miles. Haggle on that price and drive it home for 11,500.

Bought both of my nissans with ~ 120K on the motors and wouldn't hesitate to buy one with 67k if cared for properly.
133K on my 90' pathy and the motor runs great. Replaced the torque converter last year on the tranny and all the gaskets so I expect it to last other 100k. Put in an aux tranny cooler at the same time.
124K on my 2k Xterra that runs near prefect, will be installing a aux tranny cooler with a electric fan, expect this auto tranny to last to 200k since Nissan has made some improvements
However, for 13K you should be able to do better than a stock 01 Xterra SE 4x4 IMO or get a price reduction.
