I have said Amp mounted on the back of the rear seat. Using 4 guage wire for the power. This thing gets dam hot, almost too hot to the touch. Theres good ventilation. Is this amp supposed to get that hot. You can maybe keep your hand on the thing for about 10 seconds.

amps do get hot sometimes. you could always get a small radio shack fan and mount it so it blows air over the amp.

I had the radio cranking today. Ive never really noticed how hot it got until today. Just wondering if thats normal. I shouldnt have to install a fan if there is nothing wrong.

my sub amp in my old car got hella hot and it was too hot to touch sometimes. i'm not saying you HAVE to get a fan but if you wanted to you could.

How do u have the 5th channel wired? which model is it....3532? 5532? the 3532 puts out 120x1 @ 4 ohms and 5532 puts out 200X1 @ 4ohm . If you run impedance any lower, it can cause the amp to heat up quick...same for the other 4 channels..

Amps will get hot if the subs are at a higher rating then the amp and if you crank the amp for a long period of time. Get a radio shack fan, hook up the ground to ground and the power to the remote wire. That way, when the amp is on, the fan turns on.

Be careful, if a amp gets that hot to the touch, it will start turning off because it can't get rid of the heat fast enough and start overheating or burn out.

Past experiences.

I agree here, first check for minimum 4ohm impedance on all output loads, this is easily checked with any ohm/volt meter.

also check to make sure your ground is 4ga also and short, and attatched after scraping any paint away on the area too.

and like was said, when at high volumes bass amps will get hot,and it's also summertime,
thats what the heatsinks on the amp is for. smile
