Hey Guys,
Im a newbie here and just wanted some advice. Lately the X has been feeling a little sluggish. Its an 00 Se with 45k and it just doesnt feel like it has the power that it should have. I have no mods. Any suggestions/Advice for a complete newbie to SUV's??
Thanks

Sorry to dissapoint you but that could just be the way the X performs we all wish and think it should be more powerful. wink Then again it could be other things. Like quality of fuel or air flow things like that. You might want to check the "performance" section and do some searching someone else has prolly had your same problem.

Chevron Techron has the same ingredients, at half the cost of BG44K. I don't claim that it's the exact same stuff and does the same job, but both appear to be mixes of something called "Stoddard's Agent" and nafta. Good enough for me.

Yup, BG44K is a good start. New/clean air filter might be a good idea too. 45K is a bit early for the plugs to need replacing, but the 00 has the single-tip platinums that are up for replacement around 60K. With so little miles on that Xterra, I have a feeling it has made a lot of short-haul trips and if the engine hasn't been fully warmed up for many of them, it could leave the plugs a bit fouled. Pull one or two and have a look if you're inclined. If you do a lot of short-haul driving, you can change to a "hotter" plug which will do a better job of keeping itself clean under those conditions.

I just got new spark plugs and it did wonders as far as power/acceleration go!

You had several other items replaced that can affect performance too, so I wouldn't necessarily attribute it all to the plugs:

WOW.. Thanks for all the replies so quickly.. I will be sure to check the plugs and the air filter. I was thinking of getting a drop in K and N air filter.. Any comments on that filter?? i will be sure to definitely check the performance section. didnt look like to much was going on there. I do love the X though. Its a great truck.

I have the k&n filter in my 2000x. You save money in the long run b/c buy the recharge kit for the filter and just take it out and clean/re-oil it. Much better than the old paper frams. Honestly couldnt tell any difference in performance though.

Same here, didn't notice a difference from the K&N drop-in. Just be careful when you oil it, don't get carried away of you can screw up the MAF sensor or other items.
