OK, I get that Tennessee scored 24 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to win... rare, but not "tabloid worthy." I switched over and heard the announcers talking about the "tabloid headlines in the morning."
On Sportscenter, they covered the game highlights and said, "much more on this game later in the broadcast" then I fell asleep.
Did Manning or Barber come out of the closet? Eli threw a ridiculous interception, OK. Barber is a bit "metro," so what. What was the "dirty" headline everyone was talking about?

The fact they let the Titans score 24 in the 4th and blow the game. That game right there blew their season. It's a lock now they don't make the playoffs.
Thanks Giants for P Riv!!

All you people that said vince wouldn't survive in the NFL, and Leinart was so good...you can eat it.

Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves yet. First game with 100+ passer rating. He completes less than 50% of his passes and has as many picks as TD's. Really what he will end up being is a poor man's Randall Cunningham.

LOL, we should all be so happy to get a quarterback with a 60 QB rating. I'm glad he showed up in "one" quarter for the first time in his 8 starts, but he still has a looonnnnngggg way to go. Same with Leinart who still had better numbers than Vince yesterday. That's expected though for both of them. I don't think I heard anyone say that Vince wouldn't survive in the NFL, he just has a big learning curve compared to the rest and will take about 2 years to be a good quarterback. They said that Cutler had the lowest learning curve, so we'll see if he is the real deal this week.

Looks like VY has better numbers to me That's the team records. Vince can thank his defense/st for 3 of those wins. Both are playing like rookies on crappy teams and it's ridiculous to compare the two this early in their career. ![[ThumbsDown]](graemlins/thumbsdown.gif)

They will be for years to come, might as well start now. Just one question, would you rather have a win or a QB throw for 400 yards (impressive, btw) and a loss? Right, you want the win. Vince may not have won the game, but he didn't lose it either, right?

Vince may not have won the game, but he didn't lose it either, right? You can start now, but it's not fair to compare records when one actually has a defense and the other does not. Otherwise, going by those standards, you'd rather have Jake Plummer than both of those guys and I hope that's not true. ![[Freak]](graemlins/freak.gif) It's more fair to compare personal stats. Remember when Peyton Manning didn't have a defense? I'd still rather have him than whoever was hot at the time (Warner?).

I think it was a NYC reference, i.e. "tabloid" as in The New York Post, not The National Enquirer. The Post is known for ragging anybody about anything so a massive Giants meltdown made their day.

sure leinart has a crappy defense, but he also should have had alot better offense. vince has made something out of nothing. what was their record last year with a quality vateran? oh yea...4-7. what is it with a rookie (a very good one), with a "sharp learning curve"? 4-4 under vince young.

Like I said, even Peyton Manning sucked his rookie year. Second, he does have a better offense. Too bad they have no running game or they'd REALLY have a better offense. Arizona is 10th in the pass while Tennessee is 28th in the pass.

Randall Cunningham II had to come back again... This time, against a crappy Texans team. ![[Uh Oh !]](graemlins/uhoh.gif)

It's pretty much proven in the NFL you can't win with an option quarterback. I'll still take Leinart.

haha, man i love you guys who just can't accept a black option qb in the nfl. same people who were saying he couldn't beat usc, and doubted him all along. the titans, a CRAPPY team last year with a veteran qb, have now won 6 of their last 8. vince knows how to lead a team. leinart has much more talent on his team, and can't get anything going. we'll get back together next year, and you will still be doubting him, even if they are undefeated. have faith, people. p.s., i dont think any other option qb was even close to as naturally talented to start with as vince is.

Originally posted by eli: haha, man i love you guys who just can't accept a black option qb in the nfl. Why's it got to be black? Eric Crouch was white. There's been many white option quarterbacks. But, as chumpmann pointed out, who was the last one to win a Super Bowl? same people who were saying he couldn't beat usc, and doubted him all along. Well I'm not in that category, but I remember everyone got the game they wanted. They knew it was going to be a good game. I picked USC because of the Mack Brown factor. As it turned out, Mack just let Vince take over. the titans, a CRAPPY team last year with a veteran qb, have now won 6 of their last 8. vince knows how to lead a team. leinart has much more talent on his team, and can't get anything going. we'll get back together next year, and you will still be doubting him, even if they are undefeated. have faith, people. p.s., i dont think any other option qb was even close to as naturally talented to start with as vince is. Vick does good too. Cunningham did good too. But he'll never be "elite" qb like Brady, McNabb, Manning, Palmer. Leinart has that potential. But again, this is the first freakin' year for both of them. Let's revisit this in a couple years. I'm not doubting Vince will ever be a good qb, but he won't be an elite qb imo. He's doing a little better than I anticipated, but I still have to wonder why they have to keep coming back. One run yesterday in OT against a crappy team after really doing nothing prior to that doesn't do anything special for me. Of course, Sportscenter sure loves that crap just like all the stuff Vick does.

last thing I will say. There have been many great QB's who have not won super bowls, that isn't necessarily a judge of whether the qb is good or not. Manning and Palmer (who you cited as great qb's, which i agree with) have not won a super bowl, or even been in the game yet. and finally, the other option qb's you cite were simply just not as good as vince. Vic cannot throw, Vince can.

Try telling Dan Marino that. Give that man a super bowl and he's titled the greatest quarterback ever. As it is, he sits behind the Montanas and Elways. Manning and Palmer (who you cited as great qb's, which i agree with) have not won a super bowl, or even been in the game yet. and finally, the other option qb's you cite were simply just not as good as vince. Vic cannot throw, Vince can. Key word is yet. You are judged on winning the big games and if they don't win it all, they will also be behind the Elways and Montanas. If you could start a franchise right now and pick any quarterback, I bet those that I named would be higher on the list than VY. If not, I have some beach front property in Lubbock that I'd like to sell you.

It's VY's first year! You already know how good Manning and Elway are! if i was comparing the first year, it would be a different story for many of those comparisons. when all of them are veterans, you will see for sure. Ok seriously last thing i will say. I just like a good sports argument.

Exactly, that's what I've been trying to say. It's the first freakin' year. But you keep saying he's better than Leinart and Cutler. We won't know for awhile, but I'm saying that we know the Leinart and Cutler proto-typical quarterbacks work better in the NFL than a mobile quarterback. Always have and probably always will.

All great QB's flogged around for their first few years. Elway was considered the next coming of Christ here, but was crucified terribly when he couldn't win the Super Bowl. Of course coaching plays a big part and Dan Reeves wouldn't let Elway be Elway: Shanahan did and look what happened 2 Super Bowl wins. For the consistancy I would rather have Montana or Marino (great supporting cast) than Elway. As for Young or Leinhart: I'll take door 3: Jay Cutler: very reminiscent of Elway. But only time will tell...
