Actually, you don't have to store the bottom plate separately, you can use the upper Jack mounting bolt to hold it in place.

That way, merely undoing the upper wingnut that you take off anyway to remove the jack also releases the bottom plate.

I used a Python Cable Lock, and just ran it all the way through the spare, the jack and stand, and the swing...including looping it down under the jack mechanism, so it can't accidentally be ratcheted down, etc.

(In this pic, the cable insn't where it normally would be around the swing behind the tire...as the tire was being moved around a lot at the time to get between the spokes to line up with the view behind the truck from the rear view mirror)
