Pretty sure we got a chain. After looking at the owner's manual I can't find anything about changing out a belt. This may not mean anything but at Nissan's web site they show the VQ engine for the pathfinder with a chain in one of their diagrams. However, I realize that a diagramatical representation isn't necessarily accurate. We will eventually get to the bottom of this mystery!
