I only have room for about a 2" lift. (Low garage") I was looking at AAL & after market torsion bars. I was thinking about just adjusting the torsion bars, however, I've heard that it stiffens the ride. Does after market torsion bars do this also? Is this the BEST way to go? Will this lift too much? I only plan on installing a tire with more aggressive tread later on, not necessarily a taller tire.

Thanks,

Jim

If you're not going to put on taller/more agressive tires, I'd say leave it alone... The X will look a little silly if it's lifted with "dinky" tires on it... Not to mention affect your ride on-road for no reason. You'll also have to get an alignment done once you make these mods.

if you only have 2 inches of clearance between the X and the top of the garage door opening i would say leave it like it is for now. once you get bigger and better tires judge that distance again then decide. remove rear sway bar and get quick discos for front for better articulation offroad if you havent already.

Right - the AAL will add a healthy 2" of lift and the torsion bars 1.5" so you'd be cutting it close with the garage. Especially if you change tires to a taller size.
