My Frontier FSM says 72 to 80 ft-lb... Frontiers are spring-over instead of spring-under like the X - but I assume the same value will apply.

It also cautions to tighten in a diagonal pattern to keep the same amount of thread showing on all four bolt-ends (i.e. tighten it evenly so the spring pad sits level)

The flippen U bolts I bought are too wide to fit through the bottom mount plate b y just a hair. Are there direct replacements or can I just round out the holes on the bottom mount plate?

By too wide I mean the diameter.

Oh yes, since you say it almost fits, I would just ream out the holes with a round file (rat tail file) until the bolts fit. You'll have a custom fit at that point. Perfect. The holes are what we Engineers call "clearance holes" and are usually made oversize a bit so that the manufacturer can be a bit sloppy with the hole placement and size. It sounds like you have a "max material condition": largest bolt, smallest hole allowable.

I believe the Calmini U bolts say 50' lbs. At least that's what I torque mine to. Remember you're pulling on one bolt two ways. smile
