The rod SHOULD last the life time but obviously they're not!

ps: totally disgused with the Nissan dealer that sold me this Junker.sounds to me like your in need of an aftermarket steering system... or maybe just a replacement OEM center link.
both Spencer Low Racing and Calmini have/will have soon Aftermarket steering systems.... just check out their websites
