Ok my girlfriend has a 2000 X 4cylinder 5 speed, would she be able to trailer a horse trailer with 2 horses in it? It would probably be 4000lbs

not to mention with the 4 banger.. i don't think it would go faster then the horses could walk to where ever your going. the 6 is slow enough

4x4 or 2x4? I think you will be fine, just don’t slip the clutch to much. I once towed and launched 3000lbs sail boat with an 88 VW Jetta. It towed it fine except when trying to drive back up the launch ramp, had to get a few people to sit on the hood because all the weight pushing down on the hitch was taking weight off of the front. So handling wise, it’s fine. Power wise might have a harder time trying to keep it going high speeds up hills.
