Okay, been reviewing a bunch of post going on about rear swaybar discos. And while the growing consensus is to simply remove it altogether, I think for my purposes, I'm going to keep it on.
Now, I had a thought after looking at TJ's pics. Has anyone ever made discos that remove from the axle? I'm thinking that by replacing the bolts that hold the bar to the axle (that also fix the bushings in place) with studs, drilling a hole through them sideways and clipping in a small stainless pin (similar to those used to hold the cross pin in a receiver hitch), you could simply pull the pins and rotate the whole bar (with the bushings attached)up out of the way against the spare tire or into the area where the spare used to be. To hold it in place, the bar could snap into small spring clips mounted somewhere.
I think I might try this over the weekend. I can't imagine the hardware for this costing hardly anything. Everything I'm visualizing is readily available at my local marine hardware store, so it will be stainless steel.
Any thoughts?
