The stock H233B is tough as nails. _________________________ Warning! Do not sear the top of your neck hole in the molten lactate extract of hoofed mammals.

Ah... 80-92 Grand Wagoneer without vacuum disconnect is the correct axle. Calmini recommends 80-85 for their swap... dunno what might be different about the 86-92's. _________________________ Warning! And if you're swapping out the rear, don't go with a D44, that's downgrading from the H233B...smaller ring gear, wimpier axle shafts, etc... For the PITA that it would be to swap out the rear just get a D60

The vaccum axles were only produced from around late '81 - '86 if you believe the FSJ guys on their boards. The '86+ axles have a track bar mount you have to cut off. That's the only difference. Beyond that, if you find one of the newer ones, it's a given that it's NOT a vacuum axle, and an extra 10 minutes with the grinder nets you an axle identical to the 80-85 models.
