The shop that put my AAL on put one leaf facing up and another facing down. (Just a mistake...these guys have done a lot of good work for me in the past at good prices)
1) How important is it for me to get it fixed?
2) Which way is it supposed to be facing?

Tom You might want to even consider getting rid of them unless you tow a lot. I know several people have with no problems. They tend to hang up on stuff out on the trails anyway.

Their not too technical to remove yourself, just a pain in the ass. Must have tools are a jack, stands, a torque wrench and a metric set of sockets and thats it. Well, a little patience too, coming from working on struts I don't like leafs very much so that might be a biased opinion. I replaced mine with the tokico kit and I'm not sure I like the results, so I may just remove them.

I never put the load leafs back on after the AAL and have seen no symptoms nor had any problems. I agree with the hangup issue they can cause. I run 33's and have a 3"SL and 2"BL still no issues.

Just to clarify that your leaf is not on upside-down. The lowest leaf is just pretty flat. That just the way it is. Otherwise your statement would mean that the leaf is arching towards the ground.

If you look at the tips of the load leaves, you would see that the ends are like a ski, curved at the tip....and he probably means that one load leave's tips point down, and the other points up. So sounds like its just the way the tips are pointing that's of concern to him. I load up pretty full sometimes, so I left mine on despite hang-up issues...but other wise those suckers would be off in a heart beat. The tips point down...it seems mostly to make sure they dig into roots and so forth. (OK - really mostly to avoid digging into/denting the compressing leaves above...)

aight hold on, sorry for asking a stupid question, but i am curious, is there a difference between a load leaf and and add-a-leaf, like do they basically do the same thing?

The load leaves are just that. They really don't do anything unless you load up the truck with a lot of heavy stuff and or have a trailer with a fair amount of tongue wieght. Then the provide a surface for compressed springs to rest against. They don't really "spring" much. Add a leafs add to your spring pack and increase the compression force of your spring pack. They can help solve saggy springs and keep the pack from compressing as easily.

Mr. Dagger is correct. If you look at the bottom most leaf...it looks like a thicker bar, curved down slightly at its tips, not like the flat leaves above that are clamped together at their ends, and attached at their ends to the shackles. If the leaves above get mashed all the way down...they come to rest on the load leaf. If you don't have a load leaf, nothing bad happens, unless you over load the rig....and then the butt can get too low:
