We just got a 2004 4x4 with AT. There were no options for additional engine oil and trans coolers for towing. We'll end up doing some light towing but it will be 10 hrs in 90+ degree weather and some in hills/mountains. After some break-in period I'll change everything to synthetics which will help a tiny bit. What towing experience do others have regarding need for or addition of extra oil coolers for the engine or trans? Thanks for the help.

Forgot to mention it's the 3.3L V6 (not supercharged).

An external transmission cooler is inexpensive and absolutely worth doing. You can purchase a cooler for about $50-60 and install it yourself, or get the whole shebang taken care of at Uhaul or the like for (well) under $150 total.

Trans cooler for SURE! Its cheap insurance against any problem with over heating. Remember to leave the overdrive OFF while towing as well.

Not really, there's no mechanism to circulate fluid to it and you'd have to tap the case for in/out points even if you wanted to set something up with an electric pump or the like. It's not needed anyway, the MT shouldn't see temps high enough to harm it.

Thanks for the feedback. I've posted a request for any specific cooler make/model recommendations over in the 'Manufacturer Row' forum.

Not really the right place for that, should have continued here.
