My sons 2001 Xterra with 70k has developed a problem. The transmission is slow to go into reverse and drive. We took it by AAmco yoday. They said the computer says everything is fine no codes nothing. They said the engine is strong as well.

They say the only way to check the transmission any more is to open it up. They say this will mean it will cost at least $1200.00 to open it up and rebuild it.

Does this make sense at all. 70k just sounds really low miles to rebuild a tranny.
