I was wondering what was everyone take on the X tubular step rails.

I don't really care for the looks, I think they take away from the looks of the X. Plus I don't have any problems getting IN/OUT of the X.

They do look durable. The only other positive I see is being able to reach the roof rack, from the front/pass. doors.

I'm pretty sure if I buy a X that has them installed I'll end up removing them. IMHO, they should have been a dealer installed option.

Durable? Maybe visually, but bang them on a snow bank, sand hill and they will bend!

You can reach your rack by standing on the door threshold. Never used step rails/sliders to get up there anyways.

It would have been nice to have them as dealer installed accessory if the buyer wanted them.

I'll take some sliders please...

My 04's are wonderful, at least for getting to and from my ski racks. Yes you can stand on the door threshold, but that's slick and has no traction. My 05, which I hope to have shortly, will have them too.

Traction concerns? Wow, never slipped on my door thresholds.

If you ever want to go on a trail, Forest Service road, anything... remove those step rails.

If you don't think this applies to you, keep it shinny side up and on the asphalt at alllllll times!
