Howdy fellas, Had the xterra since September 10, 2000. It's a Silver 2001 SE 4x4 VG33. I traded my 1993 Nissan 300zx in on it after it started giving me problems at 380k miles on the clock. Not to mention it didn't do great in the snow, kayaks didn't fit on the roof well, and bikes didn't pile in the hatch.
I spend alot of time in the SMoky mountians, and on the local rapids. I enjoy hiking, backpacking, canoeing, kayaking, running, seeing how deep into the woods I can get the xterra, mountian biking. The Xterra also has enough guts to pull my 2-horse trailer.
I would love to squeeze some more power out of the motor, and being a hot-roder and building fast cars, such as my father, we can fab up just about anything. Once the 100k mile extended warrenty runs out (79k now) I will start to mock up a single turbo system for it.
Not anthing to big, but some block hugger headers, y-piped to a SC31 turbo, and a down pipe to the exhaust. Side mount intercooler off a early style Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX, and piping to the intake. Internal wastegate at about 5-7psi. Check valve to leak the presure to the MAF, and a Boost sensitave FPU. Run a 5-way vaccume fitting between the OE regulator, 2 are used for stock hook-ups, one for a boost guage, another for a BOV (1st gen eclipse), and the last for the FPR. A 195gph walbro 300z pump or Aeromotive inline pump will supply the extra needed fuel. It should make 250 BHP, and about 250ftlbs tq. Tranny cooler should keep the auto flulid temp down. (No boost lost between gears here).
Noe of That is happening till 100k though. I have already ttrashed 4 rear main seals, and am about to go in for a 5th.
Other than that, my xterra is stock except for shorter belt going around only the wtr pmp and altinator.
I just need more power from the xterra, other than that, it's all great.
