which V6 you thinking about? 3.3 or 4.0?
they differ, the bigger the better.

I have an '07, even driving it like a little old lady, I get about 11-13mpg around town! On the other hand for road trips with alot of freeway driving, 19mpg, that's @ about 75mph. But when I walk up to the Xterra, I always think "Sweet!", that pretty much balances out the mpg problem! lj

3.3 auto gets me 12. 6 or so towing a popup camper. Road trips get me around 14.

There are a zillion old gas mileage threads you can find in a search if you want to see info from a LOT of trucks.
I usually get 14-17 in my 2000. The newer (and significantly more powerful) '05+ models get better mileage.. I've heard as high as 21 or 22 on freeway road trips.

'07 Off Road, 4x4, manual trans. I'm averaging 17 mpg. over the first 1500 miles; may improve when fully broken in. Also plan on experimenting with some better synthetic lubes when they come due to be changed (engine oil, trans. & diffy lubes), which may help a tad. Definitely not CRV or RAV 4 mileage, but the X eats them for lunch off road! I drive reasonably, punching it only when necessary. This is suburban driving, very little highway so far......JB

Fully broken in 06, 23k miles, v6/mt, and I get 25 mpg if I'm running around 55-60 with cruise. Freeway driving I get around 20 or so at 80mph.

Same..04 V6 4x4 I get 13-15 w/ k&n, mobil 1 all around, reg. gas. The roof rack probably reduces a little but don't expect more than 17.

By drafting semi trucks 25-35 feet behind and driving 65 mph I can get about 23-24 mpg. This is before cleaning my fuel injectors, which afterwards I hope to do better.
I can't advise drafting the trucks though because IT IS DANGEROUS. You have to be extremely vigilant, and attentive. It does work though.
