Ignition timing

Always try to keep up with regular checks and so on. So the other day I checked my timing and what do you know its set at 20o BTDC instead of 15o BTDC (2000 X).
So I set it at 15o BTDC and a week or so later I've lost almost 30 miles out of my gas tank :p
Same route, same driving style, same gas station, same load........
A good note is I had an occasional ping when running with the A/C on not anymore.
So I guess if you cant get 300 miles to a tank advance your ignition a couple of degrees what do you think??

Gah.. Mines at TDC. 240 miles to a tank. I ping like a son of a bitch if I hit the go pedal on a warm (70+) degree day. Time to get retarded, literally.

Hmm...I typically can get 340-360 miles out of my tank. I drive like a granny, and try to keep it under 2000 RPM as much as possible. I'll let it hit 2500 when accelerating from a stop, and that's about it. That's also about 90% city driving.

JUST A QUICK NOTE, WHEN YOU SET THE TIMING DID YOU SET THE COMPUTER UP PER THE MAINT. MANUAL, YOU NEED TO ENSURE THE COMPUTER IS SET TO THE APPROPRIATE ADJUSTMENT, YOU CAN USE THE ADJ SCREW ON THE R/SIDE OR USE A HANDHELD CODE READER. JUST CHECKING, I JUST DID A TIMING BELT, WATER PUMP, TENSIONER AND THERMOSTAT TWO WEEKS AGO SO I AM FAMILIAR WITH THE TIMIMG ADJUSTMENT. JUST SOMETHING I NOTED WHILE SETTING MINE.
GOOD LUCK

GOOD LUCK If the intention of caps lock was to attract attention to your post, then next time you should rather make a regular post and put the importnt key points in bald. A lot better to read than your caps.

I think they just factory-set 'em at 20 degrees in '00 despite the spec being only 15... mine was that way, too. I adjusted it to 15 and have lost yet more power
