Hi all, I'm here from Washington state. I don't have an Xterra yet but we are looking to get a used one. I was hoping I could get some information from some of you as to what to look for, what to avoid, how the Xterras perform, potential problems etc...Any info I can get will be helpful to our decision. If I asked this in the wrong forum, could someone please point me the way??

Thanks a bunch!! [Wave]

Ya, just say hi don't answer any questions, real nice guys! Damn welcome weenies! :p
Do you plan on buying new or used? I don't know how many or what kind of other vehicles you've had but my Xterra was my 4th vehicle and I've never seen so much loyalty or love for a vehicle until I came here. A majority of the people that sold or traded in their Xterra on here, they bought another. If you're looking for a dependable, tough SUV you'd be making a good choice in buying an X. The major complaints that I've read on here are the mileage and the cracked manifolds on the 00-01 models. The 05+ models seem to get better mileage while the older seem to average 14-20 MPG. Look throught the other forums, there's a "Problems and Annoyances" section that you might find helpful and you can also do search to answer any of your specific questions. Welcome aboard and happy holidays! [Wave]

Thanks for the welcomes!

And thank you for the info BigE515. I'll poke around the forums some and see what I can find. I'm looking for a used rig, I don't think I'll go with new but who knows, may change my mind!! I'm wanting to get better fuel mileage than what I get with my F150. The truck was great when I got it, just what I needed at the time but my situation has changed and I don't need a big ol' truck anymore and the fuel consumption is crazy. I still need 4wd to navigate my driveway in the wintertime so I've decided a small to mid-sized SUV is what I need. I love the way the X looks and have pretty much decided that's the one for me, just need to know what years to avoid and problems to look out for.

Thanks again!! [Wave]
